Alan "SEX" Rickman!
one;
Ahahaha~~  I just finished watching Sense and Sensibility!  I'm overjoyed by the fact that Ang Lee directed it, and amused that so many Harry Potter actors were in it (Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Imelda Staunton, Robert Hardy, Elizabeth Spriggs, and Gemma Jones; Patrick Doyle even composed the score).  I've found a new favorite character in Colonel Brandon... which of course has nothing to do with the fact that Alan Rickman played him.  XP  Brandon is precisely the type of character I fall in love with: honorable, damn serious (but unintentionally funny), slightly awkward in social situations, steadfast, a bit shy and aloof, stubborn..... and with that rare smile so that when he does, the skies open up and the choir starts to sing....  *swoon*

I regret not reading Pride and Prejudice when it was assigned in Lit class in high school.  (I had an excuse.  XP)  But I think I'll enjoy reading Sense when I finally get my hands on a copy.  The movie gave me a glimpse into Brandon's character, and I'm hoping there's more about him in the original material.  X3  In addition, I felt the movie was lacking in certain essential details and story elements, like it was just skimming the world which Austen had created, and I'm hoping the novel will satisfy.

Alan Rickman is pure love, though.  (Glasses!Alan Rickman is the sexiest Alan Rickman ever.)  I really want to download the Sweeny Todd soundtrack and listen to him sing.  XD

two;
Man, closing in on 1000 pageviews at my pitiful deviantART site.  ...Should start thinking about doing something for the 1000th.  XD

three;
To Do:
- Check out Joann's for fabric.
- Go to music store and inquire about violin lessons. (Apparently playing violin left-handed is unusual.  Oh well.  XP  I'll do it anyway!)
- Plan NYC trip.
- Buy desk at IKEA.
- register for AnimeNEXT.
- figure out budget for all living expenses.
- find a roommate and an apartment for next semester.
- not freak out about the last two things.

About the NYC thing: [info]unyuu, would the 26th be OK?  I feel obligated to you to get this thing organized as soon as possible, but I also promised a few college buddies that we'd all go into the city together.  What do you think?  ^^;;  I really rather do it sooner, but things are semi-crazy, and I'm so sorry to make you wait so long!  (Obviously, you don't have to wait for me if you feel pressed for time, but you know that...  ^^  I'm just a nut.)

Pimp: [info]west_city for all your Otakon/DB Con 2008 needs!  <333

It just ain't penguin!
Happy Feet is *such* love; that first time, when all of the penguins are dancing with Mumble to "Boogie Wonderland," it's so, freaking incredible.  ^^  I love it to death.  I can't believe some parents actually complained that there was an "omfg, humans are doing horrible things to the environment!" message in the movie.  In some way, I can understand.  I wasn't expecting that to be part of the story -- they did it brilliantly, though.  But c'mon.  It's a good message to get out to kids and everyone who watches the movie.  .... I think more people are likely to see a movie about dancing penguins than Al Gore's documentary (which is also amazing in that we're-so-screwing-everything-up sort of way.)

Killer whale sequence = beautiful animation.  No wonder the film won Best Animated.  I really like how they showed the whales "playing" with their prey.  Is that the sadist in me?  o_O;;  I love seeing nature in action.  XD;;

I'm also currently in love with Loveless.  X3  I love Youji and Natsuo.  They remind me of the Hitachiin twins from Ouran because both pairs spell out double-trouble when they're around and are fairly sadistic; though Youji and Natsuo are cruel, in that adorable sort of way(?), to the absolute max.  (That's Youji in my icon.  ^^)  I like Kouya and Yamato, too; their relationship is heart-breakingly gorgeous.

Aah, and being sick sucks.  D:

I see a New Dawn
I *finally* watched Advent Children the other night, at Jake's.  So sexy..  *_*  Me likes Vincent a lot, and Aerith.  Someday I gotta play the game.  +loves RPGs but has never played The Classic RPG+  -_-  Tohru Ohkawa did the voice for Rufus!  Cool.

Now I need a Vincent icon.  ^^

Amanda and Rebecca (cousins) came to visit, and it was like a breath of fresh air.  ^^  I can't believe you drove for 12 straight hours through the night Amanda!  Crazzy!  XD  Thanks for coming; I had a really *great* time.  Love you both!

Be back on Wednesday!
I've got orientation at BG on Monday and Tuesday, so my dad and I are driving there  ALL DAY tomorrow.  XD  Maybe I'll meet some boys there...  ^.^

My friend Sara and I saw PotC yesterday.  It was Sara's second time; she'd already gone to the midnight showing.  "Twice," she said afterwards, "is more than enough."
PotC was all right.  It wasn't as good as its predecessor, but it wasn't terrible.  A lot of people seem to like it...  Johnny Depp was awesome (when is he not?)  And The Kiss was hot as ..fire.  References to the PotC ride were fun, and it amuses me that Bill Nighy (Love Actually) played Davy Jones.

Pirate-lore purists give a shudder; Davy Jones is a place, not a person.  ^^;;

KRAKEN!!!!  XD

Crazy all-day extravaganza!
I'm feeling particularly dead in the head right now (thought when do I not feel that way?) I hope everyone who went to Sr. prom last evening had a WONDERFUL TIME!

NYC was amazing. I bought a lot of manga, walked around a ton, feet got insanely wet from stepping in a puddle that didn't look that deep. and ate real!Chinese food. Because Jeremy's parents like to feed people. (Joy, Jeremy's 3-plus-change month old sister, is adorable. Yes, the squee.)
There was no Furuba ... None of the NYC J-bookstores had vol 20 in. +dies a little inside+ But I ordered it... so it'll arrive in a couple of weeks.....
...
...
...
Furuba +fails+

We also saw The Da Vinci Code at the AMC theater in Times Square. It was my first NYC movie experience. ^^ The movie itself was pretty amazing. I really enjoyed the acting. Paul Bettany as Silas gave me major chills. I can't get over his performance. Ian mckellen was also incredible, as usual (I think I'm in love with the man, seriously..) ♥

And I bought the book this morning!  Does anyone want to talk dirty Code? ^_~

Wouldn't have it any other way
It's gorgeous out today.  A nice breeze, sun - what more could one want?  wish it could be like this every day.  :3

... Very happy to say I bought two anime dvds the other day for $11 total.  Sam Goody is going out of business, and they've been getting rid of everything.  ^^  Amongst the remainder of their inventory, I found Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 6 (with Hughes and Roy on the cover looking rather yummy) and Hikaru no Go vol. 1.  Go is kind of like Japanese chess.  Amanda tried to teach it to me a while ago; and I was confused.  Very confused.  But it's a cool game...  er, cool to watch.

The animation of the Hikago anime is very nicely done.  ^^  I like Sai's long flowing hair!  XP  I thought the pacing in the manga is much better - Hikaru actually struggles with Go the first time he tries to play - er, the first time Sai plays through him.  It's just more... realistic for a 6th grader/Nike poster boy +grin+ to not know how to play correctly.  But I *love* the suspense created by a "simple" game; it's really incredible.  The sound of the stones hitting the board is so hypnotic. o_O

FMA + question "what makes a human 'human?'"  = omg the moral issue love.

[EDIT] 11:30 pm.  We've watched about half of Peter Jackson's King Kong.  I'm really, really disappointed.  It's ridiculus!  The effects are okay, but the acting could be better and Ann would have been dead like 15 times before they leave the island.  C'mon PJ!!!  You did LotR and it was *wonderful*  Why, why??!!   ...Faith in Peter Jackson a bit shaken, now watching some Rings specials from the extended DVD.  T__T

Brokeback Mountain thoughts
Thinking I was only going to get through half of it last night, I started the movie at 9:15 pm. +sigh+ But then I got sucked in pretty quickly and ended up watching the entire thing. ^^;; ..And it was pretty amazing. Don't read the cut if you don't want to be SPOILED FOR THE ENDING OF BROKEBACK.

this was written last night after watching the movie - 11:30 pm )

And completely brain-dead from not sleeping well. Own fault. But hey, got to see Brokeback.

Star Wars Episode 1
I heart Liam Neeson... Rented Star Wars ep. 1 The Phantom Menace 'cuz, apparently I wanted a good horror movie. XD Wahahah... yeah, that Jar Jar Binks is scary. >< But Liam is not, neither is Ewan with his crazy braid thing. ^^ I heart Obi Wan in ep. 3 Revenge of the Sith. Yum.my.

Star Wars Episode 3
Post Star Wars III. All I have to say is WOW.... Very cool; but where did Grievious come from? He was so cool.

Mmh, and I don't know who I'm liking more: Ewan McGregor, Obi Wan, or Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan... hearing him say "younglings" was so very cute (somewhere it said something about that becoming an ionic word). I would have giggled aloud at the usage a bit if Anakin hadn't just... yeah. Grr. That dude.. >_<
