I left my heart in Baltimore.
Man, it still feels so weird being back in NJ. -___- I'm still getting used it, being back in the apartment, not rushing around trying to get a bald cap on, not seeing my wonderful friends... Oy.

Let finish this con report before I start to forget stuff and all the days begin to blend together! XD (Photos are beautiful things for remembering great times.) I started writing this report on Monday but didn't/couldn't finish it for one reason or another. It's pretty long and can definitely be skimmed over, but even if for my own sake, I want to record everything that happened. ^_^

TO NEXT: More photos and some short videos. Big-ass photo post #1 is here in case you missed it.

Dragon Ball Con 2008 (AKA Otakon 2008)
'HO SNAPS YOU GUYS!!!  A bunch of us are planning a good-sized Dragon Ball cosplay group for this year's Otakon.  :DDD  I might have to put my Tetsu cosplay on the back-burner, in favor of this...which I hate to do... but we shall see.  This is my first cosplay group ever!  I can't even express how excited I am, how we all are, for this year.  (Plus, Hironobu Kageyama???  For seriously.)

My costumes are as follows:
01. KURIRIN from early DB.
02. PAN in her orange gi.

As I just decided, like, tonight, that I want to cosplay Pan, I'd like your feedback about it.  I have no clue as to who you all are cosplaying, in terms of characters from "Z", so I'm not sure where I'll fit in with everyone.  I'm sure it doesn't matter, since we can have characters spanning the entires series... but I'm just curious.  ^^  I don't want to overwhelm myself.
So, are you guys doing a specific saga or group?  My Pan might be a little random.  XD  ([info]glayish and [info]technoranma, I more-or-less know what your plans are for DBZ cosplay, but I don't really want to spoil them here.)

To [info]technoranma: Since you're doing Goku's blue gi from the beginning of the series, do you also want to have those boxes of milk bottles to carry around?  I'd love to do the turtle shells as well, but that would be a difficult undertaking, yeah?

That's about it, I think....  Oh, and I don't know [info]cobheran, but I'm dying to know who he's cosplaying!  ><

[EDIT] Since Kuririn is a definite, I'll focus on getting his outfits done.  And I'll adjust/add to my Kuririn costume list according to what arc you all are doing for later-series stuff.

MangaNEXT

Hey, all, I'm back from the convention!  XP

Uh.... The whole thing was kind of underwhelming.  I think I expected too much.  ^^;;;  The Dealer's Room was OK but had NO original Japanese manga, which was really what I was looking forward to....  Umm, does that make any sense whatsoever???  I can think of at least three Japanese bookstores in the New York/New Jersey area, so what gives?  Ehhh, still, it was nice.  I picked up GT Trunks (I know, GT, right???) and SSJ Gotenks figurines; they're really nice-looking, very detailed.  Amanda and I both bought artwork by Georgia Horesh from Stormwolf Studios.  All in all, I spent less than $20 on stuff at the con.  Pre-registry was $20.

The DB panel was good, but I was pretty surprised by the small audience that showed up for it.  (The more intimate setting was pretty nice; if only Andy's phone didn't go off towards the end there...)  I missed Julian, but watching Mike and Meri do their thing was very very cool.

Amanda and I left soon afterwards for Edgewater (I desperately needed my manga fix after finding nothing at the con.)  We got really lost.... and ended up in NYC, where some guy decided to back up into my relatively new car...  ><;;;  I was freaking out pretty badly (inside), shaved a few years off my life trying to leave the city.... THANK YOU so much, cousin, for taking over in the driver's seat!!!!  <33

I HATE HATE HATE HATE CITY DRIVING.   People honk.  People stupid.

The damage's not too bad.  I was expecting a huge dent in the left bumper because the noise the collision made was scary.  It's still bad, but not too bad...  (Intelligent much..)

I'm debating whether or not to go back tomorrow.  If I did, it'd only be for the Dealer's Room, since there are no other panels that interest me.  ....But I think I'll wait until next year for AnimeNEXT or Otakon, where, hopefully, I'll have my own cosplay and more money to spend.  Maybe I'll just drive to Edgewater and Ikea tomorrow.....  but.... alone?!??  DD:  XD;;

So, I'll get some pictures up soon.  I didn't take very many....

(I might go back and clean up this post.  In my current state, I don't know how hard a hit grammar took... and I'm too OCD to ignore it.)

Give me wings so that I can fly~
Amanda and I just signed on for MangaNEXT.  W00tzerz.

I compared her to a can of Red Bull tonight, while on the phone.  Naught 10 minutes ago.

(About Amanda's faith in my ability to speak and to be intelligent.  This is an approximation of our conversation, because naught 10 minutes is a long time ago and I have a very bad short-term memory.)

Me: Your faith in me gives my heart wings.
Amanda: Aww, that's nice...
Me: You're like a can of Red Bull...
Me: *hysterical laughter*
Amanda: BDPA.  You need bed-rest.

Oh, Amanda.  I heart you.  She is both "Friends and Family" to me.

AnimeNEXT 2007

Photos soon!

What a weekend! It was nice to escape reality for a bit. Being at an anime con, being surrounded by other crazy, sometimes downright frightening, fans, is like visiting another world.

All true love

[EDIT] Happy 4th!  ^^  Sorry I forgot; it feels like just another day to me because I'm working.  -_-  Ah, weather-wise over here: it's a crappy day for barbeques and fireworks...  [/EDIT]

I bought a du-rag at a dollar store in Somerville yesterday.  Who'da thunk dollar stores sell wig caps?  The store Amanda and I went to happened to be out of wig caps, but still...  ^^  Anyway, du-rag isn't going to work out.  I can't even figure out how to wear it properly.  o_O
However, after much experimentation, after simply taking a shower, putting my hair up in a braid while it was still wet and bobby-pinning it to my head, I finally discovered how I'll hide my copious amounts of HAIR beneath my Youji wig.  I think it's almost time to HACK IT ALL OFF and donate it.

...I still can't find my hat from when I cosplayed Tsuru-sen-ryu Disciple #3.  I mean, I haven't actually been looking very hard  (...); more than likely it's at my father's office (where we stored all our crap when we moved from Hillsborough to S. Plainfield)...  Hopefully I didn't leave it in Ohio.  D:  ....I miss that dang hat.  T_T  There are so many tweaks I can make to it for random use for another event.

CON PLANS '07:
A very tentative schedule of events, just to know what we're up against, or what might be cool.  Amanda, there's a whole list here to check out.  What would you like to do?
Friday
- 10 AM; Amanda and I embark.
- 12 PM; AMV contest
- 2 PM; guest panel with Ikeda Toyo, producer for GONZO, one of the creators of the anime Romeo x Juliet

Saturday
- 10 AM; drive to con on my own!
- 12 PM; AMV Panel
- 3 PM; DBZ Variety Hour
- 4 PM; Pokémon Card Gaming.  It'll be no fun without Amanda, but I might just check it out.  Maybe I'll bring my old skool/Base Set Grass Evo deck, which is totally against regulations, perhaps.  XD
- Evening; meet up with Amanda.
- 8 PM; Manga Publishing 101; panel.

Sunday
Like we plan that far in advance.  Pffft.  lolz

There's also: "How to Shop", "Debate: Anime or Manga" (Manga FTW!!  lol), "History of Manga", "Anime Plush Workshop", and "Go/Shogi Workshop"... all of which sound fun.

..Times subject to change (for Saturday and Sunday), 'cuz I don't remember how long it takes to get there.  XD

A question for cosplayers out there: Should I wear my full regalia in the car/on the way to the convention?  Or should I wear part of the costume and put the rest on later, at the con itself?  I'm thinking the former, though I really don't want to sweat in my costume in the car....  And wearing my wig in the car will be fun and interesting.  Let's give those afternoon commuters on the Parkway something to stare at and talk about later with their friends!  XD

*head/desk*
So... My intentions on going on hiatus have... fallen through.  Or something.  XP  Still, don't expect too much from me on a regular basis.  (Pretty much what I've been doing for the past few months: not posting every day, but regularly enough to not be considered dead.)

That, by the way, is what is meant by "going in circles".

I've now got to add "My nephew's first birthday" to my HOLY CRAP!July is Awesome list.  His birthday party is on the same day as HP DH release.  Oh happy day~~~!  ^___^
Yes.  And speaking about July:  Much cash for to be spent at AnimeNEXT.  These two (or are they the same?) Dragon Shiryu figures are really cool.  <3  One  Two  I dig his expression in the second image.  Not that I'll ever find these guys at the Con....  I"M SO EXCITED.
And I've never seen a cosplay skit before this one: Ouran Host Club.  It's so hilarious and cute.  I love the twins.  They steal the show.  XD  Haruhi got tall.  O_O

[info]dreamsforsale16 : The Decade of Enchantment Ball is at Prophesy.  I knew I wasn't going crazy.  (.......)

Creating seiyuu lovebars is really fun.  I love Nozawa Masako (Goku/Son family from Dragon Ball) and Tanaka Mayumi (Kuririn from Dragon Ball; Luffy from One Piece; Pazu from Laputa).  Guilmon (played by Nozawa) is my favorite Digimon.  XD  *dorks*  Koyama Mami (Lunch from Dragon Ball; Arale from Dr. Slump; Shaina from Saint Seiya) reminds me a lot of Emori Hiroko (Chaozu from Dragon Ball; Chiyako from Marmalade Boy).

I like gathering little random facts about actors.  I enjoy finding out which actors have worked together on several different projects, 'cuz I have fun imagining them being all, "Hey again!" and having a history.  I'm really weird like that though.  XDDD

Finished list:
- Suzuoki Hirotaka (View here.)
- Nozawa Masako
- Tanaka Mayumi

In Progress:
- Furuya Toru
- Koyama Mami

[EDIT] Oh yeah, has anyone read/seen Earthian or Saint Seiya?  Is it/are they good?  ^^
